In one of the University of Salford's biggest and most important
investments to date, campus Principals wanted to unveil the
University's move to MediaCityUK in a manner that would convey its
understanding of digital creativity.
A timeline of activity that encompassed press activity, social
media engagement but most importantly innovative digital stunts and
events, all aimed at highlighting the University's future at the
heart of this creative hub, was created.
The hero stunt consisted of a guerrilla 3D projection that
instantly grabbed the public's attention and highlighted not only
the University's imminent move, but demonstrated the investment
they had made into new media and technology. A nightime building
projection containing a unique code was witnessed by the media plus
thousands of citizen journalists who documented the spectacle.
Within hours of the launch, the University's own YouTube channel
received more than 2,500 hits.
